Due to essential maintenance, the following systems will be unavailable from 6.00pm on Monday 2 October until 8.00am on Tuesday 3 October: our online council tax, business rates and housing benefit services, and our welfare assistance form. You will also not be able to register to pay council tax online, make a change of address for council tax or cancel single person discount. You are still able to make a payment during this time. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Get involved with your Area Action Partnership

Join your Area Action Partnership (AAP) to find out what's going on in your area, and have a say on local priorities.

Join your AAP

If you live, work, study or volunteer in County Durham, you can join an AAP. Which AAP you can join depends on where you live or work.

Why you should join

If you join your AAP, you'll be able to have your say on issues that affect your area. How involved you become is up to you. We'll:

  • send you our newsletter
  • invite you to our board meetings and forum events
  • give you the opportunity to get involved with our task groups
  • let you know about local consultations
  • share information on funding for communities

See the  Icon for pdf AAPs - Terms of Reference (PDF, 247.7kb)  for a more detailed description of the background and objective of AAPs.

    Recommend a friend

If you're already part of an AAP, please recommend a friend. Speak to your neighbours, people in your community groups, and the people you work with to tell them all about your AAP.

Be part of our AAP board

Our AAP boards meet regularly to ensure that their AAP is on track with projects and priorities. One third of the board is made up of members of the public (public representatives). Our public representatives sit on the board for up to four years. If you are interested in sitting on your AAP board, download the following documents which have information about the post and the recruitment process.
