Construction of a new protective building over the remains of the regimental bath-building is now complete and visitors can once again marvel at this wonderfully well-preserved structure with walls still standing more than 2 metres (7 feet) high.

Please be advised there is very little shade at the fort. Please come appropriately dressed for the hot weather.

    Open every day April 1 - October 31 10.00 - 4.30. Last entry 4.00. Entrance fees: adult £5.00, concession £4.00, child £3.00. Under 4s free. 

    The fort lies about 1 mile north of Bishop Auckland beside the road that runs from the town hall square to Newfield. It is signposted from A690 Durham-Crook, from A688 Spennymoor-Bishop Auckland, and from Bishop Auckland town centre. Postcode DL14 8DJ.
