Routeway into adult social care


This course prepares you for any role within adult social care, in order to ensure the needs of vulnerable people continue to be met.

We will now offer training in a range of ways using digital resources where possible. We continue to offer a range of distance learning courses.

Who the course is for

This qualification is suitable for those who are looking to work in, or widen their knowledge of, the adult social care sector. The course will develop your knowledge of the responsibilities of adult social care workers, the diverse needs of the people using the services, and other important factors such as abuse and safeguarding. 

What you will learn

The course will cover the following and include accredited qualifications:

  • Level 1 - Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care which covers employability and personal development including interview skills and preparation for work
  • Level 2 Food Safety
  • Emergency First Aid and Manual Handling online modules
  • Elements of the Care Certificate
  • Free DBS

At the end of the course you will be guaranteed an interview with a Health and Social Care provider.

How you will learn

In response to COVID-19, we have changed the way we deliver training following guidance Skills for Care: COVID-19 - Essential training.

Where appropriate we will offer classroom-based training supplemented by home study and e-learning supported by our tutors.  You will be assessed by your tutor using a variety of methods including, portfolio of evidence, written assignments and an independent study task. There are no exams - just assessments!

Course starting dates and times

During Covid, all of our Routeway training will be delivered online.  Lessons are delivered via Microsoft Teams with online learning for the Care Certificate. Learners will need access to a laptop, tablet or computer with good internet access.

There will be an induction session to the course which takes place on Monday 7 June 2021, 9.30am to 3.00pm. This will ensure that you are enrolled and set up on the learning systems in advance of the course starting.

This course is delivered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9.30am to 4.00pm. There will be a mixture of webinars, activities and group discussions. The next start date is Tuesday 8 June 2021.
