Register offices


We operate from a number of register offices throughout the county.

Weddings and civil partnerships can now take place in our register offices, but numbers are restricted. If you have a wedding ceremony booked in a church, hotel or other venue, please contact them directly if you have any queries or require further information. Wedding receptions are not permitted so please contact your venue should you have a reception booked. 

All naming ceremonies and non-statutory celebrations are still suspended. Email any queries you have to theceremonyteam@durham.gov.uk.

You can order birth, death, marriage and civil partnership certificates online or over the phone.

Some offices are open on a full-time basis and others on a part-time basis. All register offices follow an appointment system, but times and availability may vary during the year.
