About Lumiere

Commissioned by us and produced by Artichoke - Lumiere is recognised as a world class event. Described as 'majestic', 'mesmerising', 'ever-changing' Lumiere was born in Durham and has been exported by Artichoke to both Derry and London since, wowing international audiences.

The 2019 event ran from 14 to 17 November and brought back a number of highlights from the previous five festivals as well as exciting, new artworks to shine a light on the county and mark the event's 10th anniversary. Lumiere was established in Durham in 2009 and collectively the six Lumiere festivals have welcomed more than a million people to Durham. Lumiere will return to Durham in 2021.
