Cycling instructor training
Want to become a cycling instructor? Enrol on a National Standard Instructor Training course and, once qualified, you'll be able to provide bikeability training to schools, youth groups and private sector organisations.
About the course
A four day course is followed by a post course assessment once you've gained some real experience.
The four days are a mixture of theory and practical sessions. The practical work takes place in both traffic free areas and on the road.
During the course you'll learn about:
- different teaching methods
- how to engage with groups
- assessing trainees
- how to carry out risk assessments
Post course assessment
The post course assessment can be arranged at a later date once you have gained some practical experience. It involves one or two observed sessions of you teaching a group.
Qualification
When you have completed the course you will be accredited as a National Standard Instructor Provisional (NSIP). Once you've completed the post course assessment you'll become fully qualified - National Standard Instructor Qualified (NSIQ).

*Prices are for courses held in County Durham. You may need to pay travel and accommodation expenses for the trainer if the session is outside the county.
