Consultation on Chester-le-Street, Newton Aycliffe, Peterlee, Stanley, Three Towns and Sniperley Masterplans and Durham City Framework

We are consulting on a series of draft masterplans to set out a vision and general principles for the future development of a number of the county's settlements. Projects included in the masterplans will be well placed to progress as sources of funding, including Levelling Up, become available.

Background

We have prepared draft masterplans for Newton Aycliffe, Peterlee, Stanley, and Three Towns (Crook, Willington and Tow Law), as part of its commitment to enhancing the vibrancy of communities through our Towns and Villages programme. Together with a new regeneration framework for Durham City and an updated version of the Chester-le-Street Masterplan. The documents set out projects aimed at boosting the prosperity of each location for generations to come.

What happens next

Following the consultation, careful consideration will be given to the comments made on the draft masterplans and the feasibility of any suggested projects will be investigated. Amendments to the masterplans will be made in response to the comments made wherever possible.
