Consultation on the cost of leisure centres

We want your views on how we can improve access to our leisure centres for low income households.

Background

Being active and taking part in physical activities is important to health and wellbeing. We want to make sure that you can use our leisure centres regardless of your household income.

During the summer we will be talking to children, young people and families as well as older people to find out whether things like cost, equipment, suitable clothing, transport or family budget has an impact on if, and how often, they are able to attend centres and get involved in the activities on offer.

Have your say

The closing date for comments was Thursday 30 September 2021 at 5.00pm.

What happens next

Feedback from the consultation will help us to:

  • find practical ways to reduce the cost of accessing centres and increasing participation
  • train our leisure service staff to recognise the signs and barriers associated with low incomes
  • programme activities better
  • change our policies to consider the impact on those with low income
