Gambling Act consultation
This consultation gave you the chance to have your say on the review of our Gambling Act 2005 Statement of Principles, also known as the "gambling policy".
Background
We are required by the Gambling Act 2005 to publish a statement of principles which sets out how we will carry out our work and determine licence applications for a variety of gaming and betting facilities. The policy includes three objectives which underpin the role of the Gambling Commission and ourselves. These objectives are:
- preventing gambling from being a source of crime or disorder, being associated with crime or disorder, or being used to support crime
- ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way
- protecting children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling
Gambling Act 2005 Statement of Principles
The Statement of Principles was introduced in January 2019 and is now due for review. As part of this review, we are consulting on the current Statement and want to know if you think there are any changes or additions that should be included. Are there any local issues associated with gambling premises which aren't already addressed that you feel should be included?
Have your say
The closing date for comments was 5.00pm on Sunday 1 August 2021.
What happens next
Responses to the consultation were considered and a new Statement finalised. The Statement was presented to our Licensing Committee and our Council for approval and then adopted.
