Your views matter about Durham History Centre
Your views are shaping the new centre.
We've now been developing the history centre project with you for over three years. Thank you for your continued interest in the project. Your contributions to previous consultations have helped us in many ways.
How you've helped to shape the project
You helped us to decide that the best service offer for this new facility would be to have the Durham County Record Office, Durham Light Infantry Collection, the archaeological record of the county, the local studies collection and the historic registration records co-located with the Durham register office.
You've consistently told us that you want exhibitions at the history centre. More recently, you told us that you would be interested in local history, family history and industrial history for the exhibitions. We are developing our collections and exhibition space based on the idea of a Record of a Lifetime covering the areas you've highlighted.
You've said that multi-media access to historic records is important. We have already started to digitise our collections and are developing a solution that will enable you to search across all the collections from one platform. We're also planning to have a dedicated website for the new facility.
