Housing Regeneration team

The Housing Regeneration team is responsible for delivering neighbourhood and housing improvement schemes across the county.

Poor housing conditions can impact on the health of occupants and where this affects many properties in an area, it can undermine the whole community.

We play a fundamental role in improving housing conditions in the private sector. We provide assistance to vulnerable owners and tenants and take action to enforce housing standards - particularly in the private rented sector where some of the worst conditions are found.

We help improve housing conditions using a range of measures including:

  • housing acquisition and demolition programmes,
  • group repair schemes,
  • multi-agency partnership working,
  • selective licensing of properties,
  • Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) inspections
  • tackling empty homes

The housing regeneration delivery team also offers support to local residents in the areas affected.
