Car parking in Durham City
The Sands car park is closed for two years to enable the construction of the council's new HQ. Sidegate car park is now a short stay car park to a accommodate visitors, shoppers and Freeman's Quay leisure centre users.
Alternative provision has been arranged on Providence Row for market traders with high sided vehicles to park during outdoor markets.

Disabled access parking
Disabled parking is available in Walkergate car park and Prince Bishops car park.
People with a blue badge will find dedicated spaces in all of the off-street car parks together with a Shop mobility scheme in the Prince Bishops car park.
We also have a number of dedicated bays on street which are time limited to ensure they can be used by a number of people throughout the day.
Blue badge holders can also park in any of our general on-street pay and display and permits holder only bays free of charge. In all cases please remember to display your badge.
