The Prime Minister has today set out the next steps in the easing of lockdown. See the press conference at Youtube: Prime Minister's Coronavirus press conference (10 May 2021) for details.

Between 4.00pm on Wednesday 12 May and 7.30am on Thursday 13 May, the following systems will be unavailable due to essential maintenance: our online council tax, business rates and housing benefit overpayments service, our welfare assistance form and our test and trace payments form. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Family annexe council tax discount

You normally have to pay the full council tax for an annexe, but can get a discount or exemption if it is used by members of your family.

From 1 April 2014 a new family annexe discount has been introduced. A 50% discount would apply if the annexe is used by the occupier of the main building or a member of his/her family. Please contact us us for more information.

Change in circumstances

Failure to notify us that a discount should not have been granted or that it is no longer applicable could lead to financial penalties being applied to the liable person concerned in addition to the disregard being revoked. See our Tell us you've moved house or had a change in circumstances page for more information
