Information about rail, coach and air services which link County Durham to the rest of the UK and beyond.


All air travel, rail and coach operators are working to reduced capacity with revised timetables for essential travel. Please check before you travel.

Getting to the airport, railway or bus station by public transport

Travel by train

The main train companies serving the county are: 

Visit the National Rail Enquiries website, for information on the best service for you, or check their departures board to find out whether your train is running on time.


Find out if you could get money off your rail travel with a railcard. National Rail provide more information about the National Railcards available.

Travel by coach

National coach travel is available from Bishop Auckland, Durham and Chester-le-Street bus stations.

Visit National Express for times and fares for their coaches or to book coach tickets.
