Weddings and civil partnerships can now take place in our register offices, but numbers are restricted. If you have a wedding ceremony booked in a church, hotel or other venue, please contact them directly if you have any queries or require further information. Wedding receptions are not permitted so please contact your venue should you have a reception booked.

In line with the Prime Minister's announcement that England will move to 'Plan B' to slow the spread of the Omicron variant of coronavirus, face coverings must be worn in our register offices from Friday 10 December 2021. Face masks or face coverings are required for all staff and the general public with certain exemptions which include anyone with a health condition or disability, and those under the age of eleven.

All naming ceremonies and non-statutory celebrations are still suspended. Email any queries you have to theceremonyteam@durham.gov.uk.

You can order birth, death, marriage and civil partnership certificates online or over the phone.
