Please note:

  • Classes may be cancelled or withdrawn without notice, contact the centre before attending.
  • Advanced booking for classes is advised to guarantee a place.
  • Classes can be booked eight days in advance, no refunds will be issued for bookings cancelled within 48 hours of the class.
  • Children will only be permitted to accompany adults attending fitness classes in the main hall(*) on the timetable.
  • Classes are open to anyone aged 14 years plus.

Community fitness classes

A range of fitness classes take place every week in community venues in the Consett and Stanley area.

Abs Blast

Work your abs to the core with this 30 minute programme that our instructors have designed to gradually increase your effort levels, resulting in improved stability, posture and a flatter look.

Aqua fit

Experience all the benefits of an aerobics class but in the water. Water adds support and resistance to your body and our instructors will make sure this resistance is maximised to increase the intensity of your workout. If you thought a water workout was easy, then think again.

Beginners Steps

Basic step exercises which keep your mind active while your body moves and your heart pumps. This class is geared towards beginners, those coming back to step exercises, and anyone who wants to work on their skills.

Body Blast

A 60 minute class that uses a variety of exercises designed to allow you to build strength and stamina. Guaranteed to give your fitness levels a boost and leave you feeling good.

Boot Camp (indoor)

Our instructors will put you through your paces as you work your way through a variety of dynamic strength and fitness exercises. This class delivers results fast and leaves you feeling powerful and energised.

Cardio Fusion

Blending indoor cycling with a fast-paced cardio workout, divided into two 30 minute sections. A high energy session working a range of muscle groups.

Fit Blast

An effective high intensity30-minute total body workout that focuses on strengthening and toning muscle groups. Blast your body into shape!

Fit Steps

Fit steps mixes the grace of ballroom dancing with the structure of a fitness class, using up-tempo easy to follow moves.

Good to Glow

Lights, glow sticks and the best dance tunes that everybody knows and loves. Whether you've two left feet or you're a pro dancer, it really doesn't matter. This class is all about using easy to follow moves to help you achieve your fitness goals.

Kettle Mania

Kettlebells are a great way to tone and condition your body. They allow you to chose how hard you want to work as you alternate between different weights, giving you a flexible fun experience.

Metafit

Home of the original 30 minute metabolic workout that lasts 24 hours. This "back to basic" class uses your own bodyweight rather than equipment. It is an intense workout increasing both anaerobic and aerobic pathways at the same time. This kind of interval training produces better results than aerobic training alone, including building as much muscular endurance as 45 minutes of normal cardio training.

Pilates

Created by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s, Pilates focuses on strengthening and lengthening. The repertoire of moves will take you through using the core whilst creating your perfect posture/alignment, focusing on breath, neutral/imprint, fluidity and much more. Invigorate yourself with this mind and body experience.

Tidal

This 30 minute intense water based class is taking the stereotypical 'aqua class' to the next level. This heart raiser session is high intensity/low impact making it suitable for a variety of fitness levels and abilities, but challenges each individual.

Tornado

Using a range of barbells, kettlebells, dumbbells, benches and body weight, this muscle conditioning class will strip body fat, increase muscle tissue and improve overall fitness and strength. The 30 minute high intensity sessions are not choreographed in time to music, so you can work fast with light weights to tone and burn fat, or slowly with heavy weights to build lean muscle, making this class suitable for every level and adaptable for all fitness goals.

Yoga

Yoga is for everyone. It is non competitive and allows you to work at your own rate and as a level that is appropriate to you. Using asana (postures) together with breath and relaxation it explores the connections between mind, breadth and body to promote a positive mental state,improved physical strength and flexibility and it can also help to relieve stress.

Zumba Core

Zumba Core adds in a new variety of dynamic vertical core movements helping to sculpt your abs and amp up your dance moves.
