Durham AAP priorities
The Area Action Partnership (AAP) would normally set its priorities every two years. However over the past two years the AAP has been responding to the impact of coronavirus and the priority been focused on this. Earlier this year people were asked to respond to a survey and the AAPs priorities have been refreshed.
We are updating our AAP Facebook page with any local information regarding the coronavirus. This includes changes to services or support in your area.
The survey completed by people in the first part of 2022 showed that they were happy for the AAP to continue with the priority of Covid Recovery, which covers the themes of
- Mental Health and Wellbeing
- Food provision and poverty
- Support for VCS group
- Advice and guidance
- Organisational sustainability
- Social isolation
- Support for small businesses (through a third sector support organisation)
The survey also showed that people wanted to see the themes of environment and climate change, and community safety covered by the AAP, so they are now part of the priorities.
As the AAP also has funding to support the Council's 'Towns and Villages' Programme the themes that come under this are also being considered by the AAP.
- Local environmental improvements
- Support to local businesses and attracting new businesses to an area
- Attracting new people and tourists to an area
- Public transport and disability access
- Walking and cycling
- IT Connectivity
- Public safety
- Improving community buildings
Priority Task Groups
We take actions on issues linked to our priorities. To do this, we have priority task groups. These groups are made up of board and forum members and representatives from relevant partner organisations.
At task group meetings, we identify and discuss issues linked to our priorities, and we consider project ideas and requests for funding linked to these issues. If we want to progress any project ideas, we then send them to the board for approval.
If you're interested in getting involved with one of the task and finish groups or would like to discuss an idea you may have for a project, contact us.
