Durham AAP priorities
The Area Action Partnership sets its priorities every two years although these are reviewed annually. The AAP is now in the second year of that cycle so the aims of the overarching priority will stay the same for 2023/24 although the name has been changed from 'Covid Recovery' to 'Healthy and Resilient Communities'
Current priorities
The AAP priority, Healthy and Resilient Communities covers the themes of:
- Employability
- Mental Health and Wellbeing
- Food provision and poverty
- Support for VCS group
- Advice and guidance
- Organisational sustainability
- Social isolation
- Support for small businesses (through a third sector support organisation)
- Community Safety
- Environment and Climate Change
- Tackling issues caused by the cost of living crisis
Over 2023/24 Durham AAP is especially keen to support applications that show collaboration between different organisations and applications that address the following issues,
- The support and development of volunteering
- Capacity building and development of local community organisations
- The promotion of available services and activities offered in an area
- Support local people's access to structured and organised wellbeing activities
- Projects that alleviate the impacts of poverty on a community
- Short term support to organisations to help the 'keep the doors open' through support with revenue costs or schemes to make the organisation more sustainable.
Priority Task Groups
We take actions on issues linked to our priorities. To do this, we have priority task groups. These groups are made up of board and forum members and representatives from relevant partner organisations.
At task group meetings, we identify and discuss issues linked to our priorities, and we consider project ideas and requests for funding linked to these issues. If we want to progress any project ideas, we then send them to the board for approval.
If you're interested in getting involved with one of the task and finish groups or would like to discuss an idea you may have for a project, contact us.
