Please note:

  • Classes may be cancelled or withdrawn without notice, contact the centre before attending.
  • Advanced booking for classes is advised to guarantee a place.
  • Classes can be booked eight days in advance, no refunds will be issued for bookings cancelled within 48 hours of the class.
  • Children will only be permitted to accompany adults attending fitness classes in the main hall(*) on the timetable.
  • Classes are open to anyone aged 14 yrs plus.

Community fitness classes

A range of fitness classes take place every week in community venues in the Consett and Stanley area:

Save with a Class Pass

Sign up to a class pass for £35 per month and attend as many classes as you like. Save even more if you sign up to a 12 month direct debit contract for £30 per month or an annual pass for £350. The Fitness Class Pass includes fitness class at The Louisa Centre and Consett Leisure Centre.

Aqua fit

Experience all the benefits of an aerobics class but in the water. Water adds support and resistance to your body and our instructors will make sure this resistance is maximised to increase the intensity of your workout. If you thought a water workout was easy, then think again.

Bags n Pads

These uncoached sessions allow you access to a variety of equipment such as punch bags, pads and skipping ropes.

Gloves are available from reception free of charge but you will be required to pay a £1.00 deposit.

Booty Squad

Booty squad is a muscular endurance class with cardio elements to keep the heart rate up into the fat burn zone, whilst shocking muscles targeting the bum, core and legs. This empowering class will melt lower body fat and sculpt your shape leaving you energized and feeling amazing. The ultimate lower body workout.

Gentle aqua

This is a great class for those new or returning to exercise. Exercising in water provides you with the support you need when you are looking for a class that is a little lover in intensity. This class will help improve your health, fitness and mobility no matter what your ability level. Our fun and friendly instructors will work with you to make sure your individual needs are met.

Health and Wellbeing Gym

Exercise class for adults starting to exercise or returning after a break. Classes are 60 minutes long and take place in the Health and Wellbeing Gym.

Iron fit

A complete body workout that will work every major muscle group in your body. Using barbells and weights this class will help you to improve your muscular strength and endurance. This class is designed to strip body fat, tone muscles and will change your body shape. Iron fit performs high repetitions to burn fat for the next 24-48 hours.

Metafit

Home of the original 30 minute metabolic workout that lasts 24 hours. This "back to basic" class uses your own bodyweight rather than equipment. It is an intense workout increasing both anaerobic and aerobic pathways at the same time. This kind of interval training produces better results than aerobic training alone, including building as much muscular endurance as 45 minutes of normal cardio training.

Pilates

Created by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s, Pilates focuses on strengthening and lengthening. The repertoire of moves will take you through using the core whilst creating yoru perfect posture/alignment, focusing on breath, neutral/imprint, fluidity and much more. Invigorate yourself with this mind and body experience.

PiYo

PiYo combines the muscle sculpting, core-firming benefits of pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. Plus, it cranks up the speed to deliver a true fat-burning, low impact workout that leaves your body looking long, lean and incredibly defined.

Pound

Pound is a full-body cardio jam session, combining light resistance with constant simulated drumming using lightly weighted drumsticks called Ripstix. Burn between 400 and 900+ calories per hour, strengthen and sculpt infrequently used muscles and drum your way to a leaner, slimmer physique - all while rocking out to your favourite music.

Silver Circuits

Fitness exercise class for adults starting to exercise or returning after a break featuring bikes, treadmills and low impact exercises in the aerobics studio.

Super Circuits

A 30 minute controlled coached gym based session. You'll use weights and cardio based equipment in timed circuits finishing with floor work and a nice surprise to close your class. All levels welcome as the machine will be adapted to suit you.

Tidal

This 30 minute intense water based class is taking the stereotypical 'aqua class' to the next level. This heart raiser session is high intensity/low impact making it suitable for a variety of fitness levels and abilities, but challenges each individual.

Tornado

Using a range of barbells, kettlebells, dumbbells, benches and body weight, this muscle conditioning class will strip body fat, increase muscle tissue and improve overall fitness and strength. The 30 minute high intensity sessions are not chreographed in time to music, so you can work fast with light weights to tone and burn fat, or slowly with heavy weights to build lean muscle, making this class suitable for every level and adaptable for all fitness goals.

Trixter Bikes

Trixter bikes offer a range of options; you can either come along to our weekly coached class or join a virtual trixter session where you can cycle along to a series of instructor led motivational DVDs.

Yoga

Yoga is for everyone. It is non competitive and allows you to work at your own rate and as a level that is appropriate to you. Using asana (postures) together with breath and relaxation it explores the connections between mind, breadth and body to promote a positive mental state,improved physical strength and flexibility and it can also help to relieve stress.
