About the Care Connect alarm service
Care Connect is a 24 hour, seven day a week, 365 day a year alarm service that provides monitoring and response if you need help at home. We give you the support to remain living independently.
How Care Connect can help
We help thousands of vulnerable people across County Durham who use our service. So how could it help you?
Our alarm allows you to call for assistance at one push of a button if you feel unwell, have an accident, or have a fall at home. We will immediately reply to your call, make sure you're okay or call the emergency services.
Not only will you feel safer in your own home, your personal alarm will also offer peace of mind to your family and friends.

Setting up the alarm service
A Care Connect Responder will visit your home at an agreed time to install the alarm for you and show you how it works. Our alarms are very simple to use.
Our alarms are connected to your telephone line. You will need a working telephone line which accepts incoming and outgoing calls and has an electrical socket close by.
If you do not have a telephone line, we can install a similar system that uses a SIM card for connection. This acts the same as a telephone line, but please note this will incur an additional charge. See Apply for the Care Connect alarm service for more information.
Our alarms are given a higher priority than a standard telephone call to ensure your safety in an emergency. For the Care Connect equipment to work correctly, it needs to be installed in the first telephone point in your house. This means that even when another telephone is in use or off the hook, your Care Connect alarm will still work.
Additional support
If you need additional support you can also apply for Telecare - sensors to keep you safe and independent at home. Our telecare service can provide you with the use of sensors and other equipment that can recognise when there is a problem or emergency situation in your home.
How to apply
See our Apply for the Care Connect alarm service page.
How we have performed and what people say
Care Connect annual performance report
"Out of all the outside agencies and people I've dealt with concerning my mother's care, Care Connect are by far the best. It's a brilliant and efficient service, thank you all for your help".
"Your Response staff are a credit to your organisation, they displayed a high level of care, consideration and patience which was beyond the call of duty. Thank you for your kind and considerate help".
"We received splendid assistance from two of your Response staff. My husband had a dizzy turn and could not get up. We rang Care Connect and for an ambulance. Very promptly, and before the ambulance, your staff arrived and managed to help. They even waited to make sure he was alright even though they were due to go off duty. We cannot praise them too highly for this efficient help, they are a credit to your organisation".
