Swimming is a great way for people of all ages and abilities to have fun, relax, compete, get fit, stay active and feel great. Being able to swim can help save lives and can give you the confidence to enjoy other water-based activities.
We are also the home of several swimming and aquatic clubs across the county. The six leisure centres listed below have 25 metre pools and a learner pool, except Spennymoor which is a leisure pool with a wave machine and water slide.
The following swimming pools are operated by Leisure Works (Derwentside Trust for Sport and Arts) in conjunction with us. For more information please visit the Leisureworks website.
The following swimming pool is managed by Harpers Fitness (Leisure Connection Ltd) in partnership with us. For more information please visit the 1Life website.
Your family's safety is a top priority. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. You must also supervise children taking into account their swimming ability and the water depth. We operate an admissions policy to ensure a safe environment for everyone:
Contact individual leisure centres for more information.
If you are living with dementia or care for someone who does, come along and take part in one of our Dementia friendly swimming sessions, taking place at Freeman's Quay, Chester-le-Street, Spennymoor and Teesdale leisure centres.
