THE LAST CALL IN LOVING MEMORY A devoted son a faithful friend, One of the best that God could lend, He bravely answered duty’s call, His life he gave for one and all, But the unknown grave is the bitterest blow, None but our aching hearts can know.
Sleep on dear son as the days go by, We cannot see the grave where you lie, For the waters of the ocean keep us apart, But your smiling face shall shine in our hearts.
Gone is the face we loved so dear, Silent the voice we longed to hear, So far away for sight or speech, But not too far our thoughts to reach.
Time may heal the broken heart, Time may make the wound less sore, But time can never stop the longing For the loved one gone before.
In Loving Memory of Pte. Thomas B. Longthorn, Beloved son of James and the late Ellen Longthorn, of Westerton
