Surviving Belsen

Transcript of 'The Daily Express' newspaper, 21 April 1945 [D/DLI 7/404/27]

Please remember that all transcripts show what is written on the page; spelling and grammatical mistakes are not corrected.

"THE SHACKLED MONSTER OF BELSEN

Pictures every British citizen [should see].

With fetters on his ankles and escorted by a British soldier – finger on trigger of revolver – S.S. Hauptsturmfuehrer Josef Kramer shuffles across the courtyard of the Death Camp at Belsen. It is he who has to answer for the horrors that are shown in pictures, today, on Pages Three and Four. 'A typical German brute,' General Dempsey’s senior medical officer said of him. 'A sadistical, heavy featured Nazi - quite unashamed’."
