Additional Facilities

The following additional facilities are available in the Record Office:

Self-service microfilm reader-printer: Available in the Search Room to provide copies from microfilm and microfiche. Each copy costs 40 pence. Please bring small change if you wish to use this equipment, which takes all coins except 1 pence pieces.

Photocopying: Most original documents can be photocopied although this is at the discretion of the County Archivist. Documents will not be copied if the original is too large or is in a fragile condition. Each A4 or A3 copy costs 50 pence.

Scanning: Most original documents, and particularly photographs, can be scanned and a copy supplied either as a print or on a cd. Each scan costs £5.

Sale of Publications: A wide selection of publications is available.

Disabled Access: There is wheelchair access into County Hall and there are two microfilm readers available in the Record Office where wheelchair users are given priority.

Cafeteria: Hot and cold food and drinks can be purchased at the cafeteria in County Hall between 12.00 noon and 2.00pm. Please note that NO food or drink can be consumed in the Record Office, so we would ask that you finish your meal/snacks within the cafeteria.

Vending Machine: There is a vending machine near the Help Desk in County Hall for the purchase of hot drinks, and a drinking water dispenser is available. An additional vending machine in the cafeteria provides sweets and savoury snacks.
