The North Pennine Dales area covers covers Teesdale, Weardale, South Tynedale, rural mid-Durham and rural Gateshead.

Who is eligible?

If you or your organisation falls into one of the categories below, you may be eligible to apply for funding.

  • Farmers
  • Growers
  • Private businesses
  • Public organisations
  • Voluntary organisations
  • Groups of businesses
  • Charities
  • Someone who wants to start a business
  • Private forest holders
  • Forestry contractors

What can the funding pay for?

Example of items that the funding may be available for:

  • Farming equipment and machinery
  • Construction of improvement to buildings
  • Equipment and machinery to increase forestry productivity
  • Intangible investments (e.g. specialist computer software)
  • Patents, licenses, copyrights, trademarks
  • General costs, such as architect, engineer or consultant fees
  • Marketing and promotion development

Which areas qualify for funding?

In addition to being in a qualifying area, your project must fall under one of the priorities below:

  • increasing farm productivity
  • supporting farm diversification
  • starting or developing a rural micro or small business
  • supporting rural tourism
  • supporting services in rural areas
  • developing or maintaining a cultural or heritage project
