Distribution

Widespread but thinly distributed. Most common on the Coal Measures.

Habitats

Damp woodland and scrub, streamsides, road verges.

Requirements

Wet acidic soils. Tolerates shade.

Recommendations

A medium sized shrub willow suitable for planting in scrub and woodland margins on wet ground.

Origins/Provenance

The existing population is predominantly wild. Use plants of local provenance, preferably cuttings from local plants, or FC seed zones 302 and 204.
