Bishop's Bookmark

Follow our simple instructions below to cut out and colour your very own bookmark, with a picture of 'Bishop' at the top! Remember, always take care when using scissors and ask a responsible adult to help with cutting and scoring.

You will need...

Before you get started make sure you have all things on the list below:
  • An A4 Printer with white paper (to print out the template)
  • Thin Card
  • A Glue Stick
  • Colouring pencils, felt-tips, crayons or paint
  • Scissors
  • 30cm Ruler
  • ... and about half an hour of spare time!

Step One

Click on the printer to see a printable template (20kb) of the bookmark.

You will need to use the browser 'File' menu, select 'Print' and click 'Ok to print the template onto white A4 paper.

After printing you should click the 'Back' button in your browser to return to these instructions.

Step Two

Stick your printout onto thin card, and wait for the glue to dry properly before moving onto the next step.

Step Three

Using pencils, felt tips, crayons of paint carefully colour the bookmark. Make sure it's nice and bright, but really neat - try hard not to go over the lines!

Step Four

Carefully cut around the outline of the bookmark. Remember, always take care when using scissors and ask a responsible adult to help with cutting.

Step Five

Ask an adult to help you to 'score' along the dashed line with the point of the scissors. Press gently so as not to cut all the way through the card. Use a ruler to make sure the line is straight. Scoring the card makes it easier to fold the bookmark properly.

Step Six

Fold the bookmark along the scored line and glue the two sides together, so that your super colouring appears on the outside. Now you can see that the template was designed so that your finished bookmark would be double sided!

Step Seven

Finally, write your name in the space provided, so that everybody who sees your bookmark will know who it belongs to.
