It's great fun surfing the web but it's important to stay safe at all times - here's some top tips to help you avoid putting yourself in danger.

Do you really know who you are talking to?

• Chatrooms are not always safe.
• Some people don't tell the truth.
• They might not be who or what they say they are.
• Don't take chances - you could be in real danger.

If you're not sure who you're talking to:

• Don't put yourself at risk.
• Don't give your real name.
• Don't mention your friends' names.
• Don't say where you live or where you go to school.
• Don't send your photograph.
• Don't give out your mobile phone number.
• Don't give anyone else your password.
• Don't arrange to meet anyone.

Remember, stay safe and if you feel unsure about anything on the Internet always tell an adult.
