Junction 61

Junction 61 links the A1M, A177 and A688 south of Bowburn. New developments around the area will see an increase in the number of vehicles, so meet the change in demand we had to improve capacity and the safety for all road users.

The work started in June 2019 and is now complete.

What did we do

Work on the roads and footpaths is now complete with the final landscaping due to take place later in the year.

To meet the increasing use of the junction and improve safety, we have:

  • add new lanes and widened the existing ones
  • add new traffic lights at the Roadchef junction
  • improved pedestrian access around the junction
