Due to the services we provide, many jobs with the council involve working with young or vulnerable people or handling people's personal information. As a result we may need to carry out a criminal records check as part of your application, known as a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. This has replaced the previous Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.
There are different levels of DBS checks depending on the job you're applying for. The DBS level will be made clear in the job description.
If you turn down the offer of job once the check has been carried out, you will be charged for the cost of the disclosure certificate plus an administration charge of £10.
