Bus Fares, Season Tickets and Concessions
The following types of tickets are generally available for bus travel in County Durham. Unfortunately we are unable to provide individual place-to-place fares information through this site. Detailed fares information can however be obtained from Traveline 0871 2002233 (calls cost 10p per minute with 6p per call set up fee from BT landlines. Other providers may vary) or directly from the operator.
Single Tickets
Valid for one journey. Buy from the bus driver.Day Return Tickets
Valid for one journey in each direction and usually offering a saving over the cost of two single fares. Buy from the bus driver.Day Travel Tickets
Valid for one day's unlimited travel on the services of a given bus operator. Buy from the bus driver.Season Tickets and Travel Cards
Valid for an umlimited number of journeys on the services of a specific operator within a defined area for a predetermined period. Often the most suitable choice for regular commuters or daily users of public transport. Lower value tickets can usually be bought from the bus driver whereas higher value tickets may need to be bought direct from the bus compoany or in some cases from PayPoint agents. A photograph may also be required.Children
Children under 5 years travel free if accompanied by a fare paying adult. Between their 5th and 14th birthdays children travel at a discounted fare. An Under 14 Bus Card is available for children who need to prove their eligibility.
In County Durham the Investing in Children Travel Card (IIC) is available which permits children of ages 14, 15 and 16 to travel at half fare after 5.00pm on schooldays and all day on weekends and school holidays.
