Extended Services

The Service is responsible for:
  • SureStart County Durham (SSCD) – Supporting the delivery of the Ten Year Childcare Strategy, underpinned by the Childcare Act 2006, by developing a set of core services in and around Children’s Centres and schools.
  • Education in the Community (EiC) - Delivering the Youth Service (13 – 19 years), Family Learning, Skills for Life and Adult and Community Learning (post 16) within communities in County Durham.
  • County Durham Youth Engagement Service – A statutory partnership with Police, Probation and Health (led by DCC) aiming to prevent offending by young people under 18.
  • Work is on going to scope and establish an Integrated Youth Support Service. This will include further examination of the relationships between EiC (Youth Service), CDYES, Connexions, the Children’s Services Authority and the Children’s Trust arrangements.
  • Connexions - Durham – A formal partnership delivering services to all 13 – 19 year olds to promote and support progression into education, employment and training.
