Business Support Services
The Service is responsible for:
- Human Resources:
- Development and implementation of a CYPS People Strategy.
- Workforce planning and development for the CYPS workforce, including social workers and the school workforce.
- Health and Safety and staff care.
- Provision of advice and support in accordance with the National Teachers Terms and Conditions of Employment as regards the appointment of staff.
- Direct recruitment and selection of staff within Safeguarding and Specialist Services, operation of the Teaching Pool Service for recruitment of teachers and the Durham Supply Teacher Partnership.
- Overseeing the processing of Safeguarding checks, including vetting of individuals appointed to posts identified as being subjected to CRB and List 99 checks, including trainees/volunteers and governors.
- Development and Support Unit;
- Development and implementation of the CYPS Communications Strategies, including the promotion of the Service through the provision of publicity / information about CYPS Services to the public and all service users.
- Support to the Children's Network and the provision of information, advice and guidance to families with disabled children.
- Special projects associated with strategic developments and policy analysis and evaluation, research, advice and assistance to Elected Members and corporate liaison.
- Management of the Student Support Team and administration of student loans; and risk management across CYPS.
- School Places:
- Lead on Building Schools for the Future team including Academies.
- Management of the School Places Strategy, including the removal of surplus places.
- Review pattern and provision of schools to provide diversity, choice and access for parents.
- Lead consultation on proposals for school re-organisation including arrangements for competitions.
- Lead on Emergency Planning and Business Continuity matters for CYPS.
