Corporate Policy

Strategic Human Resources

Corporate Human Resources seeks to support the Council's aims and values through providing a culture that ensures we can secure, develop and retain competent and motivated workers. Our approach is established around a People Strategy that values the contribution of each person, encourages people to work together constructively and seeks to utilise new ways of working. The actual functions are based around a number of key areas:
  • Providing guidance and support to Services in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of employment policies, and procedures such as recruitment and health & welfare.
  • Ensuring that employees within the Council get the right development to ensure skills and behaviours meet the required level of service needs.
  • Modernising the pay structure to reflect the needs of the organisation while addressing equal pay and reward issues.
  • Promoting and maintaining the physical, mental and social well-being of our staff.
