Regulatory Committees
By law, some Council decisions cannot be taken by Cabinet. So in addition to the Cabinet and Overview and Scrutiny Committee, the Council also has a number of Regulatory Committees. They include:
- The Appeals and Complaints Committee which determines appeals against any decision made by or on behalf of the Council
- The Chief Officer Appointments Committee which appoints and dismisses the Chief Executive, Chief Officers and Deputy Chief Officers
- The Highways Committee
- The Human Resources Committee relating to staff appointments and local government pensions
- The Licensing, Registration and General Purposes Committee to issue or amend a variety of licences and certificates
- The Planning Committee to determine planning applications.
- Standards Committee
