InstantAtlas Interactive Reports
InstantAtlas in an interactive web-based tool that combines statistical and geographical information into a portable report which allows users to explore spatial, statistical or indicator-based data using linked tables, charts and maps and provides presentation quality reports and profiles. The reports can take several forms with the most popular being a Single Map and Double Map report.
Single Map
These reports contain a single map, data table, data graph (all linked together) along with various buttons allowing access to other reports and useful links and provide a simple overview of the data and the area it relates to.Double Map
Similar to the Single Map these reports contain all the features mentioned above but instead of one map there are two linked maps which allows two separate indicators to be compared against each other or one indicator over two time periods.

Compatibility
To view one of these stand-alone, dynamic reports you need an Internet browser compatible with the Adobe Flash Player, (e.g Internet Explorer version 6 or above, Firefox version 2 or Opera version 9.1). You will also need to ensure that ActiveX controls are enabled as well as enabling scripting within your browser. This setting can usually be accessed through the Tool Menu > Internet Options > Security > Custom Level button in Internet Explorer. (This location may vary in different browsers).

The Reports
2001 Census Summaries - Single MapThis report provides information on the 135 electoral wards in County Durham for the most commonly requested topics and their associated '150+' 2001 Census indicators. The data is given as both counts, and as rates of the associated ‘population denominators’. For example, for employment, both the numbers employed and the percentage that number forms of the working age population, (16 to 59 for females and 16 to 64 for males), are given.

Figures For County Durham - Single Map
Every year the Chief Executive's Office produces the leaflet Figures for County Durham. The leaflet contains a wealth of statistical information and has proved to be a popular and easy statistical reference to County Durham and the seven Districts. This report contains information on population, births and deaths, housing, employment, unemployment, Social Services, transport, council tax and the environment, covering the years 2000 to 2005.
Index of Deprivation - Double Map
Central Government has used several versions of a composite index of deprivation since 1984 to help it distribute funding nationwide to deprived areas. These indices combine several measures of social and economic need together to provide an overall measure of multiple-deprivation in the area. The Index has been revised on a number of occasions since 1984 with the latest release being the Index of Deprivation 2007. This report contains the national rankings of all the SOA's in County Durham for the indexes released in 2004 and 2007.

Unemployment and Benefits Timeseries - Single Map
This report contains monthly ward based unemployment rates for County Durham from April 2007 to currently available data displayed as a single map with a timeseries chart showing the change since April 2007 in the ward based unemployment rates.
Unemployment and Benefits - Double Map
This report contains monthly ward based unemployment rates for County Durham from April 2007 to currently available data along with the claimant counts for Incapacity Benefit/Severe Disability Allowance and Job Seekers Allowance.
