Further work has also been carried out to produce a full colour profile for each of the 12 major centres. Each profile primarily consists of data taken from the 2001 Census but there is also a section based on figures taken from the 2004 Index of Deprivation (ID2004). As the ID2004 was released at the Super Output Area (SOA) level, this has enabled deprivation measures to be built for the larger areas such as the Major Centres and their catchment areas. The Office for National Statistics is gradually releasing more and more data at the SOA level and it will be possible in the future to provide measures such as state benefits, unemployment and worklessness for the Major Centres and their surrounding areas.
