Waste Strategy Review

Since 2002, County Durham’s waste services have been working towards implementing the County Durham Joint Municipal Waste Strategy. This helps direct the work of the County Council and the seven district/borough councils as they work to bring effective collection, treatment and disposal services to all households in the County. The original waste strategy was developed in consultation with residents and other stakeholders in the county. The replies to that consultation endorsed the view that the strategy should focus on waste reduction and awareness, recycling and other sustainable waste treatment methods.

But have your views changed?

Since 2003, a range of new legislation has been introduced, and with changes to technology, recycling targets and recycling services in the region, the waste strategy needs to be reviewed and revised. Please forward any comments you may have regarding waste management issues via email to wastestrategy@durham.gov.uk.
