Proposed Introduction of School Keep Clear Marking & Additional Signage - Wingate County Infants School
A travel working group has been established at the school in order to address particular travel concerns and, as a result, information has been gathered by means of questionnaires and discussions held between Durham County Council, school staff, students and parents.
Having evaluated the information provided, the following engineering proposals have been formulated.
In order to reduce congestion in the area of the school entrance, evident at school start and finishing times, it is proposed to provide school keep clear markings to the south side of the school entrance access road, and including a short distance along the B1280.
These road markings will supplement those currently provided on the north side of the access road and will, through the removal of parked vehicles, provide improved visibility both for the school crossing patrol, which operates at this location, and for motorists approaching this patrol point.
Both the existing and proposed school keep clear road markings will be enforceable between the hours of 8.00am – 6.00pm, Monday to Friday
As an additional measure to further improve the conspicuity of the school crossing patrol, it is proposed to upgrade the existing “children going to school” signs and “School” plates with yellow backed signs on each approach. The “School” plates will be replaced with ones more appropriately worded “Patrol”.
The consultation period for the above proposals has now ended, and further details of the progress of the scheme will appear on this page as soon as they become available.
