Who Can Apply?
If you're aged 14, 15 or 16 and live in County Durham you can become an 'Investing in Children' (IIC) card holder and have half price bus travel throughout County Durham. IIC Cards can be used:- For all bus journeys in County Durham. You can also travel to and from adjoining areas so long as you get on or off at a stop in County Durham.
- With single and return tickets.
- Any time except before 5pm on school days (standard County Durham school terms).
The IIC card is valid until the end of the school year of your 16th birthday. For example:

How you can get your IIC Card
Fill in the application form and contact either your school or [Durham County Council:

Alternatively you can obtain an application form from Durham County Council, tel: 0191 3725386 (answerphone available after office hours).
From your School
If your school is issuing IIC Cards (see below for participating schools) it is now free to get your pass.- Fill out the application form.
- Obtain a passport size photograph.
- Take your application to your school.
From Durham County Council
If your school is not issuing IIC cards you can send your completed application form to Durham County Council with:- A passport size photograph (stapled to your application form if possible).
- Proof of date of birth eg. Copy of birth certificate or passport (please do not send originals as they will be returned to you, by post, at your own risk).
- A cheque or postal order for £2 made payable to Durham County Council.
