Proposed Traffic Calming - Barnes Road, Murton

Following recent representations made to the local County Councillor, the Highway Authority, and the Parish Council expressing concerns regarding the speed of vehicles along Barnes Road in the vicinity of the school, it is proposed to introduce the following Traffic Calming scheme.

The proposals consist of Speed Cushions in sets of 2 across the carriageway at 4 different locations and 2 advanced warning signs. The aim of the scheme is to maintain lower traffic speeds and generally promote road safety. The use of 'cushions' should allow the emergency services' vehicles to straddle them, hopefully reducing any negative impact on their response times.

In addition to this it is also proposed to introduce waiting restrictions at junctions in order to support the requirements identified in the Highway Code to provide visibility. As well as this it is also proposed to introduce School Keep Clear Markings at the school entrance along with an associated No Stopping Traffic Regulation Order.

The consultation period for the above proposals has now ended and further details of the progress of the scheme will appear on these pages as soon as they become available
