Adopted Roads and Highways
We maintain all adopted roads in the County. The definition of as an adopted road is:
'A route, which all persons, can use to pass and re-pass along as often and whenever they wish without let or hindrance and without charge'.
We hold a list of all adopted roads.
An un-adopted, or private road is one that is not maintainable at public expense, and in this case the term 'private' refers to the maintenance of the road. Even though the roads are privately maintained, they may still have highway rights over them. Passage along them cannot be stopped.
