Public Transport

Would you like time to relax, read or talk to friends?

  • Public transport is a great opportunity to unwind after your day at work.
  • For some people, taking the bus or train could be cheaper than running a car – especially if you purchase season tickets or your employer can provide interest-free loans for an annual pass.
  • You don’t need to plan your route.
  • Avoid the stress of travelling on busy roads.
  • Public transport is an effective means to reduce the number of vehicles on the road and reduce pollution levels.
  • Durham City is now served by 3 Park and Ride sites allowing commuters to easily access the city centre and have unlimited travel with one ticket.
  • Use the train for business travel and relax on the journey.
  • The walk to and from the bus stop contributes to your recommended daily amount of exercise.
  • With support from your employer you may be able to stagger the daily commute through either flexible working hours or allowing working whilst on the train.
  • To help plan your daily commute visit Traveline North East and Cumbria
