Drama in the Council Chamber

Four hundred pupils from ten primary schools across County Durham visited County Hall recently to see a ‘Walk to School’ drama. The pupils arrived in style on the yellow buses, which are currently used to transport pupils to and from school in the Belmont area of Durham. Once they had disembarked from the buses the pupils made their way to the Council Chamber to see Quantum Theatre for Science’s production of ‘What if it rains?

Quantum Theatre for Sciences conjured up strong images and gave important messages about health and the environment to the primary aged pupils with the help of Mason, an ordinary schoolboy and his right hand man ‘Ecomon’ an intergalactic Eco-warrior from the planet Catalytica.

Mason and Ecomon, with the help of their ‘safer, greener, fitter’ audience worked together to overcome a series of scientific and environmental conundrums in order to arrive at school on time. Pupils were invited to join the heroes on their walking journey as they spread the word about health, the environment and the benefits of arriving at school alert and ready to learn after walking to school.
