International Walk to School Week

The International Walk to School Campaign gives pupils, parents, teachers and community leaders an opportunity to be part of a global event as they celebrate the many benefits of walking. All schools in County Durham were invited to participate in the campaign, and 175 accepted the offer. In 2005, over 3 million walkers from 37 different countries joined together to celebrate the benefits of Walking to School during a designated week in October. In October 2006 children from 40 different counties sustained the campaign by walking to school for the whole month!
