  • Cycling is an important form of transport and some commuters may find their journey on a bike takes less time than travelling by car.
  • For the cost of one month's petrol you could buy a bike and never have to fill up at your petrol station again!
  • Cycling to work is a good way to build up strength and stamina which will lead to a healthy heart.
  • Regular cycling can improve confidence, life expectancy and help to control weight. Cycling can also reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, strokes, diabetes, high blood pressure, bowel cancer and osteoporosis.
  • Traffic flows have increased by more than 50% since 1980. With the increasing number of cycle paths, cycling to work is now a realistic option to avoid the traffic jams for many commuters.
  • There's no need to find a parking space if you travel on your bike!
  • A 35 year old man cycling 12 miles a day can increase his life expectancy by two and a half years.
  • Cyclists can enjoy fitness levels of non-cyclists ten years younger than them!
