Trading Standards Service Delivery Plan 2008-9
The Plan is split into 4 main sections, Part 1 looks at Our ambitions for County Durham 2008-2011; Part 2 is a Service Context and Overview; Part 3 deals with Service Delivery; and finally Part 4 looks at Management and Use of Resources.
For the coming year, in addition to the important, often unseen, enforcement and advice work carried out by our dedicated staff, the plan outlines how we will be making significant contributions to improving the lives of people, by:
- Helping to protect vulnerable and older adults against doorstep criminals.
- Promoting healthier eating choices for young people.
- Contributing to the protection of our young people by the rigorous enforcement of age restrictions placed on the sale of a wide range of dangerous or intoxicating products, including alcohol, tobacco, solvents, fireworks and butane gas.
- Working in a joined up way, with regional colleagues, to respond more effectively to cross-border scams and illegal money lending (Loan Sharks).
- Providing accessible, enhanced, assistance to consumers, when purchases have gone badly wrong.
