Nursery Safety
- We will not allow children to go home with anyone except their parents or carers, unless special arrangements are made in advance.
- We will not allow children to go home with anyone under 16 years old.
- We advise parents and carers that it is dangerous for children to wear jewellery when they come to the centre. This can cause or worsen accidents and injuries. We therefore ask those parents who want their children to wear jewellery to sign a consent form.
We also have a range of other consents which we ask parents to sign, including:
- Outings and visits.
- Collection of children.
- Transport.
- Application of sunscreen.
- Photography and video.
Health Matters
To help us to prevent the unnecessary spread of infectious diseases, children should not be brought to the centre when they are ill and may be infectious. The staff will provide information if this would be useful.
It is helpful if we are informed if children will not be attending as a result of illness. We ask parents and carers to ring us as soon as possible. We also need to know if children have been in contact with an infectious disease - this helps us to decide what to do if they become ill.
If children are well enough to come to the centre but need to have prescribed medicine we can give this. A consent form will need to be signed by the parent or carer and we will keep records.
If children become ill while they are in the centre we will contact parents or carers and ask that they take their child home. We will need to have nominated emergency contacts for those times when parents may not be available. If necessary we will seek medical help in an emergency as well as contacting parents and carers.
How you can Help
Many of the activities we provide involve paint, glue, sand, clay and water. It is helpful if children do not wear their best clothes to nursery so that they can enjoy taking part in these activities.
Clothes which are easy for children to get off and on for using the toilet are very important. This helps to avoid accidents.
If your child is still in nappies we will ask you to bring enough for each day.
