Advocacy for Clients (Social Care)

Advocacy is about enabling people to either ‘speak up’ for themselves and/or having someone else to speak on their behalf.

Adult service users and their carers can benefit from the free service of an independent advocacy worker through Spiral Skills.

Spiral Skills is an advocacy service within Learning First, a north east based registered charity which provides training, education and employment opportunities for disabled people and those at risk of social exclusion. For more information please contact Spiral SKills on Tel: 01740 625225.

Children and young people can contact ‘NYAS’ (National Youth Advocacy Service), who provide an independent and confidential advocacy service on behalf of the social care services of Durham County Council's Children and Young People's Service on Freephone Helpline 0800 616101 or visit their website on National Youth Advocacy Service
