Pollution Control - Hazardous Substances

We regularly test samples of cleaning materials, floor treatments and other chemicals which are used on contract in County Council premises. We can also carry out slip-resistance testing on flooring.

Items are Tested for the Following Contracts

• Domestic cleaning materials and associated products including washing powders and liquids, fabric conditioners, dishwasher liquids and powders, air fresheners, barrier creams, soaps and disinfectants including pine and coal tar disinfectants and bleach.
• Industrial cleaning systems including floor stripper, floor polish, varnish and floor seals, carpet cleaners and graffitti remover.
• Swimming pool chemicals including sodium bicarbonate, calcium chloride and chlorine granules.
• Paper products including hand towels, toilet rolls and wipes.

The main object of this testing is to enable us to assess active ingredients in products and report on labelling and health and safety information. In carrying out this work we can advise Corporate Services' Procurement Unit on products which are best value for money.
