ATLAS - Support for International Curriculum in the North East

The region's international dimension group ATLAS co-ordinates and organises the programme of in service training opportunities which are funded by the DfES and co-ordinated by the British Council.

Aims

  • To develop an understanding of the value and place of the international dimension in all phases of education.
  • To promote the international dimension as a tool to engage pupils, develop staff and raise achievement.
  • To disseminate good practice.
  • To provide support for the development of international projects.
  • To monitor levels of international partnership in the region.
  • To work effectively as a regional network and share ideas and practice across all 12 LEAs.
  • To engage in and promote European Union (Comenius, Arion) and DfES (school linking, China, Russia, IPH, TIPD) programmes.
  • To act as first point of contact and preferred provider of support for international education issues in the North East region.
  • To celebrate and recognise achievement and to encourage schools to apply for accreditation for their international activities.
